You are so good at that thing you do.
I choose to dedicate a lot of my time to exploring what others are creating- the incredible designs, the brilliant thoughts, the novel approaches in business. It’s always possible to be inspired again. Every day, inspired again.
There is no shortage of inspiration- and, when we unplug from media, put down the book, pause thoughts on a new brainstorm topic.. we face reality again, and are reminded that not all inspirations yield tangible results.
That’s alright. It’s more than Ok, it’s great to be part of a group of people who devote time to imagining things that don’t yet exist. Imagining all the possible things that could be. This is what the incredibly smart and innovative figures in history were doing in their time, isn't it? And, this activity is not wasted effort- it’s bound to move communities forward.
Every time we observe innovative work (for landscape design it could be a sketch, a rendering, a garden, a building, a hand-drawn study, even a rough draft), our minds expand to include new possibilities. We are influenced by others, and in turn, we contribute influence outward. Creativity is a continual exchange- a conversation among minds across time and space.
Our ideas don’t need full realization to have impact. The perspectives we share, the aesthetic sensibilities nurtured, the way concepts are framed.. all of these are part of the creative 'ecosystem' we are building with others.
When we engage with one another’s ideas through collaboration, admiration, or even silent appreciation, we participate in a shared advancement of creativity.
I thank all designers, makers, entrepreneurs, thinkers.. and I hope that everyone continues to think freely and to think BIG. Know that every idea, whether conceptual or realized, moves something / someone else.
You are so good at that thing you do.
