History
Before Studio Twig, there was a small landscaping business called "Petal and Blade." Petal and Blade began in 2018 as a one-woman venture, and eventually expanded into a team that included 6 additional employees. Petal and Blade provided services encompassing the full range of landscape work: consultation, design, installation, and maintenance. The photos on this page highlight the projects completed during that time. Also included below is a selection of client reviews. With a record of only ever receiving 5-star reviews, we hold ourselves to the same standards in every new project. We are truly thankful for the wonderful clients we've had the privilege to work with.

"I was looking to transform our junkyard into a peaceful city oasis but did not have a clear vision having never tended to my own garden (or rather could not articulate one). Somehow Luna was able to translate my mumblings into an exact replica of what must have been buried in the recesses of my mind. When I saw her drawings I thought "this will be nice" but didn't quite imagine my junkyard could actually look the way it now does. Luna, unlike most of the various contractors and hired hands I've employed over the last 5 years of living in my husband's former bachelor pad, was an excellent communicator and delivered on time (save for being a few days late with a quote which is more than reasonable). Moreover she was very clear about when she'd be on site, when she'd be off of site, and how many people would be in her crew. Maybe I have low standards but I never expect that level of communication and follow through. It took her 4 days to complete the work (the same amount of time she'd promised). I also loved that she hired young, energetic, bright workers (makes me hopeful that the next generation loves to get their hands in dirt and grow beautiful things in ways that I didn't until I decided to begin adulting). I now have the most serene, Zen, still-pinching-myself space that I am truly grateful for. I cannot rave about them enough and am super happy that I clicked on their link in homeadvisor as opposed to going with the "safe" (only because I shop there) but definitely more expensive option of going with Urban Jungle Garden Center to do my home garden. Also- the price is honest and reasonable. My husband was not thrilled about investing money on a garden- Luna listened between the lines of his interaction and did her best to offer me cost savings wherever possible without allowing me to compromise on the end product. I deeply appreciated that level of negotiation and social skill. I'd use them again and again and would recommend highly (might even try to see if they can do updates in a few years)."

"Luna and her team were able to take what worked in my small urban garden and enhance and elevate it to create a welcoming entry to my Mt Airy row home. When we met she was very thoughtful in discerning my goals for the space, especially considering my limited 'landscaping language' skills. She provided a preliminary design, and after agreeing on the plan, she gave me everything I asked for and more and at incredible value. I cannot be more enthusiastic in my praise!"

"Luna's services were amazing, from initial concept to the final installation. The attention to detail from her and her team was outstanding- couldn't recommend Petal and Blade more. The final project was beautiful, serene, and really brought my vision to life. It ended up better than it was in my head! My only complaint is that we don't have more yard space because I'd love to work with her again!"

"Luna created gorgeous arrangements for our back deck. She was able to incorporate some existing plants and build interesting and beautiful arrangements. In addition, Luna redesigned the garden surrounding our pond into a 'Zen garden'. It is just breathtaking."
